Hampden Gardens

My mother in law and a number of relations spanning from 1916-2009 lived in the various houses in Hampden Gardens, i.e. Butlers, Richardson's. Sam(p)son Butler Snr worked at the Quarry in 1901, but at the time lived in Spring Gardens, Beddingham, in 1891 and 1911 lived at Southerham. Could anyone let me know if there is any written history on the chalk quarry, ie workers, conditions, travel to and from, etc, also the history of St Mary's Church in Tarring Neville, I believe we still have living relatives in Newhaven.
