I asked my dad Fred Beale,if he could shed any light on your search,his first job when he left school in the early 1940’s was collecting council rents and he retains an incredible memory for names of Newhaven residents . All he could recall was a certain Mr Breeds that he knew who was an civil engineer ,he was known as Burma Breeds because he had spent many years in Burma as a planner , dad and his father ,also a Fred ,had bumped into Mr (Burma) Breeds in the Seffield Arms and had a long chat as dad had just come back from service in Burma and had been at the same location that Mr Breeds had known.
