Does anyone remember the boat builders of Newhaven? I can recall watching them build fishing boats in a place very near to my house at 1, High Street. The builders were happy to let children wander around. They also threw lots of bent copper nails into the river  which we boys dredged up and sold to Wheatley's on Drove Rd. Next door to the boat builders was a blacksmith's; I recall horses being shod.
