I can remember when this part of the river was crammed full of boats. Including the John and Mae Mc Cloud (ex mine layers)
I seem to remember cycling around here in the early 60s. It was a cinder track, not a road at all. Behind the photographer of picture 1 would have been a builders yard. My father worked from there. I remember coming around the bend, of the cinder pathway and seeing my father's Ford Thames van and hitting the brakes and back tracking. I would have been in big trouble if seen that far from home! as we lived in Peacehaven! I was probably about 10 or 11 at the time. Myself and other Peacehaven mates spent a lot of time exploring Newhaven.
