Postcard showing SS Brighton in Dieppe Harbour. Going by the clothes on the ladies I would estimate this was circa 1910. No doubt some readers will have more information.

This is the 1903 Brighton, built as usual by Dennys of Dumbarton.

In 1910 Brighton was in collision with the sailing ship Preussen off the Sussex coast. Brighton's Master was found to be responsible and lost his 'ticket', but evidence suggests that there is reason to believe (and there's much on-line argument that I'm not going into - you can look it up yourself!) that this was unjust.
