WESTERN ROAD

50' to 60's

By Bob Harris

Have just found this site - was advised about it by Chris Nunn, who I recently met and who lived in Gibbon Road when we were both youngsters.

Came across some photo's and notes by Val Lidster so this is for you Val. Our family, the Harris's lived next door to you in Western Road - we were at 95 of course. Our parents, Les and Win, and Sandra, our younger brother Philip and me.

Those photo's have brought back some fantastic memories of 50's and 60's Newhaven, and of course Western Road and all of us kids.

The years have flown and they have had their moments - I hope life has been good to you ; thanks again for posting those great pictures.

Best wishes,

Bob ( Robert )  Harris.

Thanks for this Robert, of course I remember you and the family, and hope life has been good to you all too. My eldest sister Pat still lives in Newhaven, and Robert (who I think was around Sandra's age)     lives in Kent, sadly we've lost our parents and Rod now, but the 2 youngest live in the area. As I've lived in the midlands for many years I really enjoy looking at this website and check it all the time. There are lots of happy memories of growing up there, and the amount of time we spent out of doors, especially having a skipping rope right across the road, and being allowed to stay out until dark when there was no school next day. I hope to put more pictures on the site soon, one is of friends in Western Road, so look out for that,  best wishes Val
