RTTL 2772E

Last of the line

By John Hills

RTTL 2772E visited Newhaven during its frequent trips up and down the channel. She is pictured here in 1966 on speed trials off Brighton and was the fastest of all the MkII launches. During these trials she achieved speeds in excess of 40 knots, according to a member of the crew at the time. It was later reported the craft could achieve speeds over 50 knots! This being mainly due to fact her hull was constructed of aluminium and new marine Rolls Royce engines!

Has anyone got a picture of RTTL 2772E in the harbour they would like to share with us?
