A 'NEW' FAST FERRY

Maiden voyage from Newhaven - well, under this name!

This is the fast ferry Elite, seen here on 10th March 1998, her 'maiden' voyage. The string of flags on the loading ramp are a bit of a give-away! Well, it was a sort of maiden voyage, as she'd actually arrived here a year previously, but in her Stena Line guise as Stena Lynx III. The merger of P&O and Stena Lines' cross channel routes meant a new livery and a new name. She was a good fast ferry for this route, the Incat catamaran design giving a more comfortable ride for her passengers if things became a little 'bumpy' mid-channel.

She would only do the two seasons on the run before P&O pulled out of the route.
