My grandfather, Clement Lower, was given this book upon leaving school. He would have been fourteen years old, (he was born in November 1900). I've no idea why he was given this - I assume it would have been too expensive to have given a book to every child. I'm pretty sure it's never been read; the font is tiny, enough to give anyone a raging headache!
Clement Lower died in December 1986, and is much missed to this day.
