The Newhaven Football team with some local dignitaries and supporters ready to set sail on the 3rd June 1956 for the return match in Doudeville, France.
In the picture can be seen the "Mud Hole" before it was turned into a marina and also in the top righhand corner can be seen the Colegate & Gray buildings in the chalk quarry, also the cricket pavilion in the centre top, which was built 5 years earlier.
Of the 34 people in the picture we have names for about half, can you help with the names of some of the others?
On the staircase to the upper deck we have Len Flowers, Mervyn Allen, John Allery and Brian Patten (top to bottom).
