NEWHAVEN SIGNAL BOX

Railway signal box 1969

By Terry Howard

Newhaven Town signal box in the days when it could cause traffic chaos. As this 1st of January 1969 view shows. It was a fairly early candidate for the fitting of barriers. The box looks to have been extended at the left hand end. I found this image in a Railways south east magazine from winter 1989/90 while on holiday in Norfolk this year

Its now being closed down and all signalling moved to Three Bridges, sorry to say it's a stupid move moving it so far away.
