SUE CARNOCHAN AND PUPILS!

A reunion - a few years on!

By Andy Gilbert

Sue Carnochan - better known to many pupils of Newhaven County Secondary School and later Tideway School  as Miss Butlin - tells me that she recently met up with three of her former students, whom she took on various school outings and activities back in the 1960s. They included youth hostelling, sailing and ski-ing.

Anna Rayder, Vivien Scrivens and Ruth Crouch met up with Sue at the Youth Hostel in Southease. Sue tells me that she's amazed that these three young tenagers, as they were then, are now in - to use her own words - 'her age group'!

The lady who was serving them their food overheard them mention Tideway and asked them if they knew John Davies - AKA "Taff Davies", the PE teacher. It turned out that she was his daughter in law. As they say, "It's a small world!"
