West Beach 1949

Picture postcard (Click to see full sized version)

A request from Colin Brandon enquiring about buildings on west beach back in the 1950/60's, the only one I could find is this one, hope it helps Colin!

An enlargement and clip from a picture taken in 1949 showing the general scene and buildings on west beach promenade.

The railway line can be seen in front of the cliffs which ran from the back of the Town station over the old swing bridge passing behind Chapel Street along West Quay past the Fort Road Recreation ground around the "Mud Hole" (now the marina) and on past the Hope Inn (far right-centre picture) on its way to the end of the breakwater.
