To Brighton by boat, cheaper than the bus or train.

My wife-to-be Heather Strudwick, and I (we married in 1961) would sometimes catch the morning ex MTB's "Mae McLoad" or the "Anzio", from the riverwall where they were berthed in Newhaven harbour, and then we would travel on them to the Palace Pier at Brighton, from where they operated pleasure trips during the summer season. This photo was taken on one of our trips during the summer of 1958. I think the fare was half that on the bus or train.
