RINGMER "MULTIMARQUES" CAR RALLY

Fish and Chip run, 8th July 2008.

By Colin Holden

On Tuesday the 8th of July, the Ringmer "Multimarques" car club held a rally down to Newhaven Harbour.

Having first made a "refreshment" stop at Denton Corner where they purchased Fish & Chips, the next stop was the promenade.

Unfortunately the weather was not kind and we had to "Dine" in our cars.

However that did not dampen our enthusiasm and a good day was had by all.

They don't make them like they used to. What's interesting about this (for me anyway) is the top photograph. I noticed Denton Corner the last time I was in the UK and it struck me as a classic symbol of how times have changed. Denton Corner when I was a kid in the late 60s and early 70s was a true product of (correct me if I'm wrong) the Labour governments from 1964-1970. From left to right it had an ironmongers/DIY shop, hairdressers, butchers, post office and convenience store. Everything you needed at the time.
