VIEW FROM THE CLIFFS

Very interesting picture. Look at the buildings and the semi detached houses in the foreground! There are still buildings at Tidemills too! Anyone know when the "Signal station" was built?... this picture was taken well before that. Looking forward to reading comments about this picture.

Any idea when great uncle Bob was born Val? This will give a clue to what sort of era the picture was taken, as Bob looks to be in his 30's... my GUESS is early to mid 1930's

My guess is 1936. The car in front of Bob on the prom could be a Series 2 Morris 18, 1936/37. The car facing the camera by the white shed appears to be an Austin 7 Ruby, 1935.

Thanks for those, I thought the detail interesting too and very impressed by the car info. 1936 a real possibility. I thought I saw something years ago in the Museum about when those semi detached houses were demolished, but not sure of Bob's birthdate, so I need to start some family history but don't live in Newhaven now!
