For such a major event as the Boer War there doesn't seem to be a lot locally. The museum have a progamme for the Peace celebrations but apparently the Earl of Sheffield gave a silver plate rosebowl to each of the returning troops- has any one got one that I could photograph for the museum (or you could always loan it for display)?

Thanks,

Pete, Newhaven Maritime Musuem

Does anyone know of any names of local people who fought and died in the Boer war?  I'm sure there must have been a few from the Newhaven / Denton / Heighton & Tarring Neville areas. Perhaps now just recalled as names in family stories? Military memorials for that war do not list home towns of those killed, so it is a mammoth (almost impossible) task to check each name.
