THE DIEPPE RETRO
The Dieppe Retro is held the first weekend in September annually and the Starting Handle Club (Shoreham) had four cars taking part this year.

My Morris 8 waits to disembark at Dieppe. We travelled on the lower deck as the ferry ramps on to the upper decks are difficult for older cars to negotiate.
Note that we do not have "sat nav". How did us older people find our way before?

We stop to refuel.

Retro is a term used to classify old trends or fashions.
Many years ago cars were raced around a circuit in Dieppe, and since 1990 classic cars including racing cars have celebrated the event annually by attending the "Dieppe Retro". I own and drive several old cars which are considered Retro, and most years I take one of them to the Dieppe Retro. 2008 was a special event celebrating the centenary of a race in 1908 and as a member of the Starting Handle Club from Shoreham who participate, I took my Morris 8.
Although the event is not directly connected with our town, for as long as can be remembered, many of the entries have travelled (and still do so) via the ferries from Newhaven and so I felt that it is part of the historical side of the port.
