Pupils outside the canteen

The following photograph shows some pupils outside the canteen at Hillcrest School in the summer of 1954. This building was also used for lessons, to the left is a slither of Hillcrest School, as far as I'm aware this building is still standing with the nearly completed flats blocking any view from the south.

The Canteen building also doubled up as a cinema in my day there. The class room, just showing on the left could well have been a Mrs Willies classroom. Anyone remember her?

I remember Mrs Willy. I also remember Mrs Scott, Minnie Marchant, Miss Ranks and many more of the teachers.

The girl in the middle of the bottom row is not Margaret Delacourt. I have asked her today & she does not recognise the girl shown.

The girl in the middle of the front row is Margaret Mitchell.

I was a pupil at the school until leaving in the December 1957. I then worked at Haven Cleaners in South Road.  At school we boys were only allowed to play in the bottom playground of the school, with the girls using the top playground. I do remember some of the names of the girls and teachers.
