NEWHAVEN CRICKET TEAM - 1936

Group picture

By Laurie Stonehouse

The following photograph shows an old cricket team group, I've been assured by my elders in the family that this is a Newhaven cricket team! My grandfather Robert J Stonehouse is third from the left at the front. The score board does given some information about the scores on the day, perhaps someone can provide some names to the faces and more details surrounding this old photo.

I used to work with Fred Noakes in the early sixties. He was a joiner for Bannisters builders. He had really bad arthritis by then and retired soon after. Very nice person .

Looks like Frank Hersey on Fred Noakes's left. He was either Head or Deputy Head at Hillcrest School when I was there in the late fifties.

Fred Noakes was the wicket keeper then, I knew him well when we both worked at Bannisters Builders.
