UNUSUAL FERRIES - AGAIN!

A couple of unlikely visitors.

By Andy Gilbert

Early July 1980. Senlac was off the run with engine trouble and Sealink were scratching around to find replacement tonnage in a hurry. Townsend's Free Enterprise II was swiftly drafted in from her usual base at Dover, but she had almost no freight capacity, so B+I's Dundalk soon joined her to handle the freight traffic until Senlac returned.

I think that the little tug usurping Meeching's usual spot at No.5 stage is the Metrec, operated by Mike Newton-Smith's Metrec company.
