Who remembers the terrapins in the ponds? I was with two of my granddaughters when we saw them and the girls' eyes nearly popped out of their heads. The one we saw was huge as a dinner plate, but I couldn't get close enough to get a picture.
Yes we saw five dinner plate sized ones all at the same time, early spring. They would emerge covered in mud from hibernation, sometimes having been frozen in. Are you sure they are now gone?
