Hi Dave, I remember the sea cadets well as I was a member in the early sixties. Cdr Harrison was still there then as were Richard Halpin, the Dixon brothers and Michael Nicholson. It was during my time there that Roy Doyle,Terry Richardson and myself all had a week at HMS Heron, Yeovilton Somerset. Great times!

By golly these lads make me feel proud. Their turnout is spotless and in the finest tradition of the Navy. Have the young men got the same guts and strength of character today? The truth is we dont know but given the chance I bet they could there up with the best. Its the facilities we need to mould and test and make men of them!

My Father-in-law was in Benbow Division 1954, 33 mess. He was with Terry Pajet, Johnny Fleetwood, Petty officer Bates, Petty officer Bloom. He would love to hear from anyone who was with him and shared great childhood memories. Thanks Steve

Top Photo. I think the officer seated third from right in second row is my late uncle George Simmons. He lived for many years in the house called Riverside.

I'm looking for anyone who knew my uncle who did his national service probably late 40s on HMS Dieppe, the ship was involved in an accident in which there was an explosion, my uncle wasn't hurt. His name was Michael Banfield. He was very tall and probably spent time squatting his head on the bulkheads. Thank you.

Hi Colin

Yes George Simmons mentioned in above photo was a Royal Marine and his middle name was Douglas. He lived in Riverside which sadly is no longer there but was next door to The Bridge Hotel towards Denton Island Bridge before the new road was built.
