PARKER PEN

Sussex Express Article - July 2010

By OurNewhaven

This month’s picture shows the Felix Pen Company, established in 1921 by Felix Macauley.  In 1930 the Valentine Pen Company took over the site and in 1941 Parker Pen acquired an interest, completing the purchase in 1945.  In 1993 the company was bought by Gillette and in 2000 was sold to Newell Rubbermaid, another large American company.  Today the factory in Newhaven is being wound down, the manufacturing of the pens sadly being transferred abroad.

However, there is some good news for ex-employees, they can now keep in touch with each other due to the launch of their very own website http://www.parkerstaff.co.uk/ where they can share memories, and upload photos, videos, and stories.
