CRUISE SHIP VISITORS

Newhaven as a cruise destination!

By Derek Longly

Whilst the cross channel ferries and cargo vessels that call at Newhaven are a common sight, less well known are the cruise ships that come into the port from time to time.

I have been lucky enough to see many of them and thought it might be a good idea to demonstrate the wide variety of these attractive ships by adding a page of photos taken over a number of years.

Of those I saw the most impressive by far was when the Chandris Lines vessel The Azur arrived.  She was the largest such ship to call to the best of my knowledge and drew a big crowd to watch as she was brought into the harbour.

Again, some great photos. Please keep them coming. I always liked the Yugoslavian sisters, Istra and Dalmacija - they had very stylish looks.
