SAILING INTO NEWHAVEN
A coastal voyage
By Derek Longly
In 1990 I was lucky enough to be asked to help crew an ocean going sailing yacht named Middlesea on a delivery voyage along the south coast into Newhaven.
On the way we ran into thick fog and the skipper instructed everyone to wear lifejackets in case of trouble. I said to him that if we were run down by a large ship the need for lifejackets would probably have passed, that was if we were ever found.
Here are some pictures of the trip including of the vessel moored up safely in the marina on arrival.
Does anyone remember the Middlesea and what happened to her after we had delivered her?
