Undergoing refurbishment at Queenborough

Kind permission of Mike Jackson

It's just been confirmed that, after several 'wilderness years', our former harbour tug Meeching has been bought by Murray Tugs of Queenborough, Kent. Murray Tugs held the Newhaven tug contract after Meeching's departure in 2000, with their tug Nore Commodore, and their tugs currently operate along the Medway and the Kent coast.

A full refurbishment of Meeching has now started at Queenborough and she will be slipped (ie. taken out of the water) at Ramsgate in May/June for survey etc.

It's planned to have her working again later in the year at Queenborough, and also covering for their other tugs at Ramsgate.

I'll be making a few trips up to Kent to keep tabs on things from now on!
