NEWHAVEN HARBOUR

c1930's and c1900

By Karen Mayo

The first picture is a well known postcard. From the vessels in it - the dredger Foremost Prince, the tug Foremost 22 and the steamer, which is either Brighton V or Worthing - the Our Newhaven team have been able to date this to between 1933 and 1955.

The photo was taken from the Stricklands Warehouse situated on the North Quay, I've cropped and included two sections from this image.

The second photograph is another popular picture from an earlier era, the cross channel steamer in view is possilbly the SS Arundel or the Rouen.
