Still meet up down under

Michael Hyder and I have been friends since around the age of seven and have just celebrated our 70th birthdays.  We both grew up in Newhaven, Michael in Western Road and myself in Gibbon Road.  Michael now lives in Brisbane and I live in Sydney.

Even though we live over 600 miles apart we still meet up once or twice a year.

Maybe we should have and "expat" page on this site. I lived in Peacehaven, all my relations on my fathers side were Newhaveners. I spent much of my time around the harbour and fishing off the Breakwater, from the top of the arches. Family emigrated to Aus in 1965, I currently live in Sydney and about to retire to Bundaberg QLD.

I used to live at 97 Western Road until we moved to the mount and now live on the far North coast of NSW, Australia is great but there is no place like home.

Hi Dave, I seem to remember a Steven Folwell. My cousins were Len and John Lipscombe, 88 Western Road. Sadly Len passed on 1st Jan 1972,  I now live in Rhodes Greece.

Born in Brighton, lived in Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs, went to school in Peacehaven and Newhaven. Worked at J2T in Newhaven. Lived in Canada since 1988.

Michael, you may not remember me but I remember you, you must be about the same age as my brother Rob Vinall? The whole family gathered for Rob’s 70th in Kent last May. I remember your mum as a very kind woman, was your house 107? The Lipscombes lived almost opposite and the Folwells next door but one to us at 93, there was also a sister Lisa. I live in the Midlands now but such happy memories of growing up where we did.
