TERRIER LOCOMOTIVE 32678
August 10th 1963
Hugh Nightingale - Secretary, The Terrier Trust
Exactly fifty years ago on Saturday August 10th, Brighton-built Terrier locomotive 32678 worked the last train over the lightly-laid West Quay lines at Newhaven and the severely weight-restricted swing bridge over the River Ouse.
To mark the occasion, see picture, the same engine has been partially chalked and wreathed to resemble how she looked when she left Newhaven on the 18th.
Now resident on the Kent & East Sussex Railway, 32678 is scheduled to operate the "Breakwater Express" on the 11.45 and 2.20 trains from Tenterden Town on Sunday 11th August, and, if the wreath holds together, on Monday 12th at the same times.
