News paper article about my 5 great uncles

By Gareth Storoszko

This is a newspaper cutting from the war detailing the MIA status of my great uncle Len and his 4 brothers and one sister who were also serving at the time. (All of them made it through the war) If anyone is interested I have many photos from the early 1900's, mainly of the Geering family (David and Annie their children Jack, Joe, Len, Frank, Jeff, Arthur, Charlotte, Dolly, Margaret and my nan Rose), but there are a few football team, army, POW and community photos of Newhaven and Tide Mills.

Please post more of your photos, we'd love to see them.  Site-Editor

No way! Bet Jeff is the one my Dad is named after! Dolly was his mum's name.

Hi Gareth, do you know if David had a sister named Ellen?

I think we might be related.

Hi Laura, David did have a sister called Ellen

She was called Nell for short & married into the Hopkins family

I believe she was David's older sister and was born in 1872 and died in 1951. David and Ellen's other siblings were Elizabeth (Bess), John William, George, Rosanna Lucy, Maurice (Mark) & Lillian (Lill). Their father was John William and their mother was Elizabeth Green. I have some pictures of the family if you are interested to see what they looked like.

Hi Gareth,

I never realised that you replied to my comment.
Unfortunately my chaotic life got in the way and am only now getting back into my family research.

I would love some pictures if you could email them to me, that would be amazing. (email address removed see website rules)

Ellen was my great, great, grandmother (i think that's right)

Editors can forward email address/photos privately if required.
