Can anyone put names to faces? - Carol (Editor)
Photo 1: Blonde is Jennie Giles, background is Sue Hedges. Photo 2: Sue Hedges aka 'Ginger Sue'. Photo 3: left to right Alan Godsmark, Jim Elliott and Chris Hawes. Photo 4: left to right Paul Blackman, Neville Chapman aka 'the boss' and Chris Hawes. Photo 5: that's me ......Paul Blackman. Photo 6: Jean Tapp on left and Jenny Froud. Photo 7: the famous 'Thorn Music Centre. We made thousands of them. Photo 8: Group of Students who worked at Thorns. Left is Colin Clarke third from left Chris Hawes. Can't remember other 2. Thanks for submitting photos Colin. Very fond memories.
Thanks Paul. You could have left out photo six, lol. You are right though, I loved looking at them again, bought back some good memories. Joan remembered who most of them were too, she also said she has some photos. Perhaps we can add them too.
Many thanks for adding the names Paul - you had already identified them but I confess to having been too lazy to add them at the time. The bottom photo was taken at 110A Phyllis Avenue, Peacehaven, which the four of us rented. I'm now certain that second from left is Dave Llewellyn and on the right is Nigel Deller. I think they too were working at TCE on student placement, but can't remember which section.
Just spotted another person in background of photo 2. Standing behind 'posing' Sue and leaning a against air tool pillar is lady who married Johnny Hackett. As I remember John was Supervisor of the 'Repairs' section but I cannot remember her name. The glass office in the background was occupied at that time by the Production Foreman who was Reg Laycock. Reg is mentioned elsewhere on this site but he was one of a few of us who use to meet for a drink on Wednesday nights in the Lewes Road Tavern (later Ferryboat and whatever now). Landlord and Landlady at time were Ted and Anne Curtis.
I thought that young chap looked familiar Paul... :-) Hope you are well!
All well thanks Andy.......enjoying retirement. Hope you're ok also.
Just found this site OMG! memories.
Don't forget to use the little search box in the top righthand corner.
