Denton Island Wedding

This a photo of my parents at their wedding on 28th April 1938 at St Michaels & All Angels Church Newhaven. The reception was held at the Ship Hotel in the High Street. My mother was formerly Daisy Christabel Staniforth & was born at Reeds Cottages on the Island in 1913. After leaving school she worked at the Bridge Hotel for the Brewer family until she moved with them to the New Inn Hotel at Eastbourne where she met my father Charles Moore. Her sister Elsie Mabel also worked at the Bridge Hotel as a nursemaid to their children (Geoffrey & Rita). Does anyone remember them ?

The people in the family photograph are from the left : Joe Staniforth (brother), Dick Saunders (brother in law) Jim Pinn (best man), Elsie Saunders (nee Staniforth - sister), Mabel Staniforth (mother) & John (Jack) Staniforth (brother). The young boy in front is Bruce Saunders (son of Elsie & Dick) who later became a teacher at Newhaven Tideway.

Some of the people in the group photo are Joan Staniforth (sister in law) 2nd from left. The lady between my mother & grandmother is Daisy Claribel Eldred (nee Mitchell). She was born on the Island in 1890 and was my grandmothers sister/stepsister. I think the lady far right is Bet Saunders (sister of Dick). Can anyone put names to other faces.
