Mr. Di Guiseppe and Mrs. Mountford

By Caroline Morrison (nee Taylor)

Mrs. Mountford and Mr. Di Guiseppe were much loved teachers at Tideway and I'm sure they must be fondly remembered by a lot of people. Not only exceptional, dedicated, and caring teachers, they were both uniquely talented people in their own right. Mrs. Mountford designed and sewed all her own clothes, designed and made costumes for our school plays and musicals, and after retiring from teaching went on to sew costumes at Glyndebourne for many years.
Mr. Di taught art at Brighton University after he left Tideway, and he painted an incredible number of paintings. Nearly every square inch of the walls of his Brighton home were covered with his art work and Mrs. Mountford also had many of his works hanging in her Seaford flat. My favourite is a portrait he did of her which I am posting here. They were inspirational teachers and great friends and I miss them very much.
