CONSERVATIVE CLUB FIRE

Sussex Express Article - November 2012

By Carol Walton

This month’s picture was taken on the 26th June 2010 at 8.03am, the building pictured is the Conservative Club, which was one of Newhaven’s fine old buildings from the Edwardian era.   Sadly the fire made the structure so unsafe it had to be demolished, the area is currently a derelict site, time will tell what will eventually replace this building. Across the road and into the very top of the high street is the Employment building with Arrow Tyres set behind. 34 years prior to this there was another major blaze which completely destroyed Amy’s garage / Arrow Tyres.
