The Newhaven batsman is Graham Godfrey and fielding for Newick at first slip far left, is Piers Morgan the TV presenter/personality who has most recently conducted a one to one TV interview with the president of the United States Donald Trump.

In this particular match Piers caught out Graham a few overs later!

When I played for Battle in the East Sussex cricket league, the games against Newick were always a bit fraught. They had a bowler called ? Thacker can't think of his Christian name, he was a very short guy who used to bowl little skidders  that stayed low and caused panic in our top order batsmen. Don't think we ever came up against Piers Morgan though.

Terry, the bowler's first name was Rupert, one the of the best I faced in league. I last played against him about five years ago and was he still difficult to get away.

Yes that was him Rupert, thanks. I do remember you as a young lad when I left Denton in the early seventies. As I have said before I worked with your dad and Keith in the sixties, they were great fun.
