WALTER RICHTER - MORE PICTURES

Beached at Tidemills

By Stephen Morris

Derek Longly's photographs and those of John Hills, taken by his mother, brought back memories of the grounding of the Walter Richter at Tidemills.

Forgive me for adding yet more pictures but I thought these gave another dimension with the sea pounding the coaster as she lay grounded on the shingle.

Through the stern and the rudder you can see the salvage tug waiting offshore to attempt to drag her off at high tide.

The early morning shot with the lone observer highlights the helpless state of the ship and how awkward she looks out of her natural environment.

Hope you approve Stephen as I have enhanced/cropped your pictures slightly before publication.
