On discovering your web site (Our Newhaven) memories from the 1970s came back to me. I had the pleasure to become a car delivery driver in 1972 delivering Saabs from Immingham (North East Lincolnshire) nation wide.

Following our deliveries into the Kent area I was redirected to Newhaven to reload Simcas bound for the north of England. Many a night out I have enjoyed in Newhaven until I started working for a different company and I was never to return. But between 1972 and 1975 I enjoyed the hospitality of the town people.

Now, as a 76 year old pensioner, all I have are memories of all the towns I visited. But one town I liked, perhaps more than others, was Newhaven. Thank you all for my memories. Mick Askwith, Grimsby.

What ship Andy ?

That's the small freight-only ferry, Capitaine Le Goff. The black hull means that it's her first season on the route, 1972. Andy-Editor
