Photograph of the extensive damage done to 29 Second Avenue during a bombing raid by Luftwaffe planes in WW2 believed to be about 1943.

This was my Grandfathers house and luckily all the family were away at the time. They were relocated to Peacehaven. The bungalow remained in the family until recently.

Hi, how are you? I am very interested in the photo of 29/31 Second Avenue. As you know Paul Bishop had been researching our family and both of us knew that Second Avenue had been badly damaged by bombing. Paul had tried to research the incident at Newhaven Museum; apparently he was told there was no record of the incident.

Your photo seems to confirm our knowledge. I have a photo of Angela and myself at the bungalow in Peacehaven in probably 1946. I lived at 29 from 1949/50 until 1954/55; not quite sure of the dates.

Would love to hear from you - perhaps you could send a message to me via Ancestry.
