Looking east towards Seaford Bay c1956

Picture taken from the cliffs above "Old Nore Point" looking towards Seaford Bay in the distance.

Note the mysterious Groyne entering the sea just below the cliff and in line with the high wire fence on the cliff. Does anyone know the reason this groyne was constructed, seems to have been made out of steel with a similar shape to old railways lines.
