GUN PRACTICE AT NEWHAVEN FORT

Taken circa 1930s

By Brian Urry

These photos are from my father-in-law's collection. I believe they are of him and his colleagues taken between the Wars in the Territorial Army in the 1930s.

The top photo is NOT Newhaven Fort, as it shows a 9.2" Gun at Renney Battery near Plymouth, you can see the Breakwater Fort in the distance. Apart from looking nothing like the gun positions positions at Newhaven Fort, no 9.2" Guns were mounted on or near Newhaven Fort, the largest guns were 6".
