Last I heard, this ship was rotting away on the river Medina, Isle of Wight. Shame!

After seeing this photo of 'P.S. Ryde' it reminded me of the times as a kid I went on both this ship and her running mate 'P.S.Sandown' when we went to the Isle of Wight for a summer holiday back in the late 1950's early 1960's. Then you could stand just inside a door near the paddle wheels and see the pistons and cranks of these classic last paddle steamers being run by the then British Railway Shipping in all their glory ( goodness knows what HSE would have done in those times as I'm sure it would of be off limits today! ). Anyway these ships sailed into history in the 1970's as their era and new corprate livery did not suit them.
The livery shows that this is pre 1965, but I think it's the refit where she was fitted with radar. The museum has the date for this, I think, so I'll try to find it.
