The building is dated 1891 and most people seem to think this is the only pub by that name ,however, in the 1871 census George Page is named as publican and although I can't find the pub on the '81 census there are The Sheffield Arm Shants- huts for labourers that stood between the river & Fort Rd.  The Sheffield Arms is also mentioned in the Water Board plans at ESRO dated 1879 regarding a watermain from the reservoir near the church to the Sheffield Arms and then along Fort Rd.   Has anyone got photos hidden away of the MK1 Sheffield?

I wonder if my tankard is still hanging in the public bar?
