Pictures of the remembrance service held in Fort Road in 1989.
1989

I find the second picture interesting because it shows the old building at the start of Fort Road, my nan lived in number 6 which is the bottom left of picture. If you look you can see a timber beam protruding out just above the odd shaped window on the first floor. It would have originally had a block and tackle attached to it, to hoist a load up and into a store on the first floor, through doors which would have been where the window is now. Does anyone know when this building was built and was it originally part of the old farm located in this area or did it come after. I used to live at 58 South Road, which is about where the photographer would have been standing.
