"On the Prom. What Amusement!"
If only NPP allowed residents with BN9 postcodes free car parking along the "Front" what a busy meeting place and communal area it would once more become! So many real Newhaveners are too long in the tooth to stretch out on a brisk walk to the windy foreshore from the nearest FREE carparking...

This photo takes me back to the early 60's when I used to sell ice lollies, choc-ices and ice-cream from a box walking on the beach. I always sold more on the stoney beach as they had further to walk !

The cafe was then owned by Tom and Win Flower our next door neighbours. I recall I got sixpence in the pound commission so I was always keen to sell the expensive choc-ices!

Hi, I remember Chris selling ice creams with Alan (Tom and Win's son).  Our parents also helped out at the cafe, serving sandwiches, tea and of course ice cream. I can remember Mum and Win sitting in the kitchen early in the morning preparing the sandwiches, a real production line. It was hectic but fun.
