NEWHAVEN SQUARE - C1990

I remember when the the square was under construction, this was around 1980/81, my friends and I would ride our BMX bikes over the foundations.

When WH Smith first opened their shop, they had a promotion and staff were outside handing out special vouchers.  I was a lucky winner, I could choose a chart album.

Gosh, what memories this brings back! We used to have fish & chip meals in The Galley, buy our records in Rondo (buying 'local' rather than supporting the multinational Woolies!), birthday cakes would always come from Use Your Loaf, magazines and papers from Smiths. Pauline would often buy clothes from Dawn, a family friend, and I can recall buying a Hoover and a TV from the Co-op!
